Me and Board

Last day in Phuket.

On Friday we woke up headed to breakfast and then made our way to Kata Beach to get a surf lesson. Neither of us have ever surfed before so we saw this as a good chance considering the good weather.
We meet Sharle and we went through our lesson on the sand learning how to get up and stand on the board. After 30mins we went to out to the water to give it a go…we found out this was just a test to see if we were naturals, which we weren’t. Back to the stand to learn a few more tips on balance and how to get up a little slower.

Back to the water and we both got up and were actually surfing which was really cool, Sharle told us that he was number 1 long boarder in Thailand which didn’t really make sense but he explained that he was number one in Kata or at least thats what we thought. After our lesson he said to rest, eat and drink plenty of water. We went for a walk and found a little guy on a motorbike making Pad Thai, so we had one of those and walked around a bit more. We went back to the beach later as we had the boards for the whole day. Clare read on the beach while i went back out to surf a bit more. I was having so much fun I found myself going just one more wave, one more wave.
We dropped the boards back went to the hotel and got ready to go to Muay Thai or Kick Boxing. We got a Taxi and on the way the driver took us to his favourite restaurant which was a beach setting that served really great seafood.

We made our way over to the Kick Boxing stadium and saw a few westerners in there along with a heap of Thai. The first few kicks were little kids but it was taken very serious. The first fight was between 4-5 yr olds. There were 10 fights al together and we watched 7 the last one being 18 yr olds.

We left as we had an early flight to Chiang Rai in the morning.
