Me at Maewang Waterfall

The hustl and bustle of this place is somewhat extreme when compared to our last stop Chiang Rai, which is 180kms North from Chiang Mai. The heat has also picked up a bit here and yet there is still a small flash of rain each day and then beautiful sun for the rest of it.

So far we’ve tried a local delicacy which is chicken soup with coke…as in the chicken is marinated in coke overnight which means no salt or flavouring needs to be added – it all comes from the coke, and I have to say it was actually really nice. Also the street food has been sooooooooooooo good, I really can’t say how good it’s been Pad Thai for $2, garlic pork for $1 and so tasty. The people here have also been really nice and friendly. They are really helpful towards tourists.

Chiang Mai is also flooded with Wat’s(temples) and they are placed all over the main part of town which is surrounded by a moat. We are just outside the moat near the night bazaar which at night is flooded with stalls of all sorts. And there a plenty of tourists who flock to this area to get a bargain.

Yesterday we went on a trek, which included an elephant ride, swimming a waterfall, a bamboo raft ride and a walk through the jungle. It was really hot for the whole day but that made swimming that much better especially after the hour long walk.

Today we have a cooking class and for the most part we are just chilling out.

I’ve uploaded a few more photos as well.

cheers
